Psychiatric hospitals may collect and submit data for The Joint Commission’s set of seven core performance measures for Hospital-Based Inpatient Psychiatric Services (HBIPS) in lieu of submitting data for nine non-core measures. These measures include the following:
- Admission screening for violence risk, substance use, psychological trauma history and patient strengths completed
- Hours of physical restraint use
- Hours of seclusion use
- Patients discharged on multiple antipsychotic medications
- Patients discharged on multiple antipsychotic medications with appropriate justification
- Post discharge continuing care plan created
- Post discharge continuing care plan transmitted to next level of care provider upon discharge
McLean BASIS® plus has been serving as an ORYX® vendor since 1999, when The Joint Commission began the program. We are committed to this important new program in psychiatric and behavioral health quality measurement and reporting.
Hospitals interested in meeting TJC requirements should review the seven measures and the detailed specifications available on The Joint Commission website.
